City hosts 4th Friday Arts program
CROWN POINT | Fourth Friday Arts Committee will feature a free Celebrity Meet and Greet with Phil Potempa for this month's program from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday. Potempa will present Halloween From the Farm at South Shore Arts, 138 S. Main St. Those planning to attend should RSVP to (219) 933-4173, leaving a name, number in party, hometown and contact number.
Join The Times of Northwest Indiana columnist, Phil Potempa, for a party with decorations, refreshments, games and more than $800 in door prizes. Joined by his parents, Potempa will share the history of some of the popular Halloween traditions at his family farm and bring a few surprises to add to the holiday fun.
His daily column offBeat with Philip Potempa keeps readers up on the latest happenings with celebrities, live theater, moves and television buzz. Additionally, every Wednesday, his From the Farm column ties a narrative story to a showcased family recipe.
This month's featured 4th Friday Arts artist, Crown Point Community Theater, will present scenes from Oscar Wilde's comic masterpiece, "The Importance of Being Earnest!" This classic comedy of manners involves double lives and mistaken identities, young love and middle-aged romance, a long-lost brother returned from the dead, and lost a baby.
"It was a smash when it first appeared in 1895 London," said director Grant Finch. "I would bet there has not been a year since when it hasn't been performed in at least a dozen amateur theaters across the country. It never stops being funny," he said.
While the program is free to attend during 4th Friday Arts, tickets for scheduled performances at 8 p.m. Nov. 7, 8, 14 and 15 and at 3 p.m. Nov. 16 can be purchased at the door and are $12 for adults and $10 for students and seniors. Reservations can be made by calling (219) 805-4255. The show will be staged at On the Square Sports Academy, 105 N. Court St., Crown Point. For more information, e-mail earnest@cpct.biz.
Complete October artist schedules will be available at every participating business, at South Shore Arts and online at www.4thfridayarts.com
