Kids College

Kids College at IUN begins its second session Monday. Classes for New Kids on Campus (ages 7-9) include: Spanish for Kids and Magic Numbers, at 8 a.m.; Beginning Ballet, Jewelry 101 and Learn French! at 9:30 a.m.; and Walking Through a Writing Wonderland and Reading with Dr. Seuss at 11 a.m. Young Juniors' (ages 10-12) classes include: Put on Your Thinking Cap, Story Starters, Be a Young Artist, and Reader's Theater, all at 8 a.m.; Simple Spanish, Word Problems (Math), Bubbles 101, and Whodunit at 9:30 a.m.; and Hip-Hop/Jazz Dance (limited enrollment), Scrap Yourself Silly, Bonjour!, and Volleyball Session II at 11 a.m. Young Collegians' classes (ages 13-16) include: Basketball for Young Collegians at 8 a.m., College-Bound Writers at 9:30 a.m. and Hip-Hop/Jazz Dance (limited enrollment) and Plan Your Future Success NOW! at 11 a.m. Tuition is $65 per student, per class. Alumni Luncheon

IUN Chancellor Bruce Bergland will meet with IU and IUN alumni, St. Mary Medical Center employees and area citizens during an alumni luncheon July 10 at the hospital's Hobart campus, 1500 S. Lake Park Ave. All IUN graduates, students, parents, and supporters are invited to attend this open and informal event from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. in the hospital auditorium. This luncheon is an open event. People are encouraged to drop by as their schedule allows for a great lunch and a chat with Chancellor Bergland, who is very interested in hearing ideas from the university's constituents about how IU Northwest can continue serving Northwest Indiana's educational needs.

Certified Nursing Assistant class

The IUN Adult Education Program will offer its next CNA class beginning July 21. This course offers 105 hours of training, in compliance with the Indiana State Department of Health. This includes 30 to 32 hours of classroom instruction and 75 to 80 hours of clinical experience in a licensed nursing facility. Completion of both classroom and clinical portions leads to registration for the State Certified Nursing Assistant Test. Tuition is $700, not including the cost of a TB test, physical exam, state test, and uniform purchases. Senior University

Beginning Aug. 4, IUN will host this weeklong series of noncredit classes for mature residents who want to learn more about computers, arts and crafts, or other fun and useful topics.
