Porter County police were busy responding to injury accidents Friday afternoon -- one on Ind. 49 and another on U.S. 30.
The first crash occurred at 2:09 p.m. at Ind. 49 and County Road 600 North in Liberty Township.
Police said a man in a sport utility vehicle was northbound on Ind. 49 when a woman in a sport utility vehicle that was eastbound on the county road failed to yield the right of way, causing the man on Ind. 49 to roll his vehicle.
The man was ejected from his vehicle and suffered a head injury, but he was talking at the scene, Lt. Chris Eckert said. Eckert said there was talk about airlifting the man to a hospital, but instead he was transported by ambulance to Porter Valparaiso Hospital Campus. The man's passengers, girls ages 8 and 11, were wearing seat belts and were not injured.
About a half hour after that crash occurred, a multiple-vehicle crash occurred at U.S. 30 and County Road 475 West in Union Township.
Eckert said initial reports were that there were some injuries, like a broken leg, but none of the injuries were believed to be life-threatening.
Further details about the accidents were not available.
