PNC offers introductory class on Microsoft Word

The Purdue University North Central is offering a three-day noncredit course on the basics of Microsoft Word.

The Basics of Microsoft Word for Beginners will meet at PNC's Westville campus from 6 to 8 p.m. Mondays through Oct. 20. The course fee is $89. A recommended book also is available for $26.

This course will give an introductory look at the Microsoft program and acquaint people with such features as creating and opening a word document, navigating tool bars, formatting a document and saving and printing work.

VALPARAISO

Class will teach basics of computer, online use

Purdue University North Central is offering a noncredit course to introduce the basics of using a computer and get people started on the path to computer literacy.

Computer Basics will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursdays, from Oct. 9 to 23, at PNC's Westville campus. It also will be offered at PNC -- Porter County, 600 Vale Park Road, Valparaiso, from 1 to 3 p.m. Mondays, from Oct. 13 to 27. Registration is $89. A recommended book is available for $26.

The class will cover use of the mouse, Internet browsing, e-mail and the basics of computer hardware and software.

WESTVILLE

Learn how to transform and enhance a home

Purdue University North Central offers a two-day noncredit class on Home Staging and Redesign.

Home Staging and Redesign for Homeowners will meet from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursdays, from Oct. 9 and 16, at PNC's Westville campus. The registration fee is $69.

The class will teach how to improve a home's look and transform it into a welcoming, appealing and attractive space. Home staging is about illusions and adding a soul and style to a lifeless structure that goes beyond decorating and cleaning. Other topics include how to eliminate clutter, edit and arrange furniture and how to make a house look bigger, brighter, cleaner, warmer and more comfortable.

WESTVILLE

Class focuses on floral holiday arrangements

Purdue University North Central is offering a noncredit floral design course that will focus on creating holiday floral arrangements and decorations for the occasions that occur from Halloween through New Year's Day.

Deck the Halls floral design classes will be offered from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Wednesdays, from Oct. 8 to 22, at PNC's Westville campus. The registration fee is $199. Flower and vase supplies are included.

WESTVILLE

Scrapbooking design class will begin Oct. 15

Purdue University North Central is offering a noncredit course in Scrapbooking and Card Design. The class will meet at PNC's Westville campus from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays, from Oct. 15 to 29. The registration fee is $99. Supplies are included.

Participants will learn about the different kinds of albums, basic design layouts, photo cropping and embellishments. One class will be devoted to making greeting cards.
