CROWN POINT | The Crown Point Board of Zoning Appeals on Monday unanimously approved a special-use permit to allow the Conservative Cafe to serve alcohol.
Bill McCall, who represented owner David Beckham, said the cafe needs the license to be competitive with other restaurants in the area.
It will primarily be used for its catering and banquets on the second floor of the building, McCall said.
The restaurant, 201 N. Main St., will not be a bar establishment, he said.
Board member Jim Wirtz said there should not be live entertainment at the Conservative Cafe because it could bother the business's neighbors.
