About Chris: Born Feb. 4, 1993. Son of William and Kelly Sujka. Brother to Scott. Grandson of Millie Sujka, of Oak Lawn.

Member of St. Damien Church in Oak Forest.

Accomplishments: Chris Sujka, a sophomore at Mt. Carmel High School was recently named a Student of the Month. He was nominated by a teacher based on academics, leadership, citizenship and determination. Sujka has a 4.31 grade-point average, is named to the high honor roll and is taking Advanced Placement world history along with honors chemistry, English, math and Spanish. He played varsity football this year and will be playing baseball again this spring.

Sujka plays travel baseball in the summer and works with the team to host special needs students once a year working on skills. Personal hero: "My Uncle James Sujka, of Monee. He's had a couple rough times in life, yet he's always the first one to help and to be generous when there's something needed. He's my godfather, too."

What I read: "I don't read a lot outside of school. We read ‘The Hobbit' and ‘The Kite Runner' and now 'Hamlet.' "

What I do for fun: "Usually hang out with friends from the neighborhood."

People might be surprised to know: "I was the lead in our school musical in eighth grade at St. Damien."
