LANSING | Sunnybrook Elementary District 171's administrators, custodians and educational support staff will receive pay raises averaging 4.25 percent this year.
The School Board approved the raises at its May 21 meeting.
The increases take effect July 1 and are based on the increases given to teachers under their current contract, Superintendent Joseph Majchrowicz said.
Educational support personnel include lunchroom supervisors and staff, secretaries and aides. The administrative staff includes central office administrators, school principals and assistant principals.
Annual administrative salaries this year will range from about $52,000 to $148,000, plus benefits. Those salaries are in line with or slightly below the average pay for administrators in the south suburbs, Majchrowicz said.
Included in the district's administrators' salaries is an 0.8 percent increase for the 20 to 60 additional days administrators work, Majchrowicz said. The superintendent and director of finance and technology work 60 additional days, the special education director and principals work 40 additional days, and assistant principals work an additional 20 days, he said.
In other business, the School Board is expected to revisit the issue of student uniforms at its July meeting.
After hearing from two parents who spoke during the meeting, the board directed Majchrowicz to put the uniform matter on the board's agenda.
In January 2004, the board agreed to make uniforms a part of the district's dress code but then held off on carrying out the policy after parents and community members raised concerns.
