Santa Claus will visit with children when he comes Friday to the Wanatah Library, 114 S. Main St., at 5:30 p.m.
the lighting of the town Christmas tree at the corner of Main and High streets is at 5 p.m. today.
LaCrosse news
The LaCrosse Maintenance department is having difficulty with geese at the Sewage Lagoon. Members of the council approved a request of Maintenance Supervisor Jerry Jackson to purchase alligator heads to gloat on the lagoon to get rid of the geese. The cost will be $400.
Repairs to the water tank are completed and the tank is back in service. Re-inspection will be done in 2009 to keep the 13-month warranty. The tank will be out of service fro 3 to 4 days at that time.
Riggs Mowers bid $5,077.48 for a new Western Wide plow which will include a $1,000 allowance for the old plow. A second bid from CPW company was $5,869. The council approved spending $5,500 for a new plow.
Kate Horst, manager of first source Bank in LaCrosse attended the meeting and introduced herself.
A summary of the executive meeting finds Haas and Associates and McMahon Associates are asked to come up with a plan so the town is in compliance with E-coli test limits as mandated by the state of Indiana for a discharge permit.
the Plan Commission will meet at 7 p.m. Dec. 8 at the town hall.
Pancake breakfast
The LaCrosse Lions Club, along with area churches and businesses, is sponsoring a pancake , eggs, and sausage breakfast for the benefit of Carol and Tim Earle from 7 a.m. to noon Dec. 6 at the Center in LaCrosse. Donations are $6 for adults and $3 for ages 11 and younger.
Meetings
The Dewey Township board meeting of Dec. 18 at 6 p.m. has been cancelled. The meeting is reschedule to 6 p.m. Dec. 15 at the LaCrosse school
Newly elected officers of the Ladies of Sacred Heart Catholic church include Sandy McCleod, president; Elizabeth Kadish, vice president; Vicki Hamada, Secretary and Joyce Plechaty, treasurer. The next meeting is Feb. 10.
Foot screenings
Podiatrist William Roman will be at the Koselke-Mayfield American legion post in Wanatah at 10:30 a.m. today for foot care for the convenience of senior citizens.
Historical society
The Wanatah Historical Society will meet at 10 a.m. Dec. 13 at the Wanatah Town Hall. The meeting is open to anyone interested in early Wanatah history.
Council meetings
Wanatah Town Council will meet at 6:30 tonight at the town hall. The meeting is open to the public.
Lacrosse town Council will meet at 7 p.m .Dec. 8 at the town hall.
