These past several years, the City of Crown Point has recognized each month with a character trait. This past month that trait was "Responsibility" and September's trait is "Perseverance."

Emma Beckman, a student at Eisenhower Elementary School, has displayed both of these character traits and many more. Emma wanted to do something special for someone, so she set an up a lemonade stand. With the proceeds and some donations from family and friends, Emma purchased 10 backpacks and filled them with school supplies.

With the help of the Crown Point Community Foundation, Emma was able to donate these backpacks to Parents as Teachers in the Hanover Community School Corporation. PATH is a literacy based program supporting young families in the early years of child development. The backpacks were given to some of their clients.
