LAPORTE | A LaPorte business owner could wind up with some jail time for extensive damage from a vehicle police allege he used as a battering ram.

Police are pursuing arrest warrants against 52-year old Bryon Eigenmann, the owner of La Porte Realty.

According to police, he drove his SUV into his estranged wife's car with enough force to propel another vehicle through a garage wall.

Tuesday about 11 p.m., police said his wife, Carla Eigenmann, was at the home of Thomas Huber at 210 E. 10th St.

They were watching television when Carla said she heard "a bunch of crashing sounds," according to police.

Carla Eigenmann told police she looked out a window and discovered her husband's GMC Denali causing the destruction.

According to police, the woman's 2003 Cadillac was sent through the garage door into Huber's pick up.

The pick up was sent crashing through the back end of the garage then smashed into a pop-up camper sitting outside the structure.

Police located the suspect's heavily damaged SUV abandoned in the 100 block of K Street, about a block from his real estate agency.

Inside the SUV was an open can of beer in a cupholder, police said.

According to police, Bryon Eigenmann could not be located.

However, La Porte Police officer Robert Metcalf said he was talking to his wife about the incident and her cellphone rang.

It was her husband and he told her "I am getting a gun. Thomas is on my death list," officer Metcalf said.

The woman told police her husband filed for divorce two months ago, and she has since obtained her own residence.

Based on the findings of the investigation, police said charges of Class D felony criminal mischief along with criminal trespass and criminal recklessness, both Class A misdemeanors, are sought against Byron Eigenmann.
