Antique Expo | Crete

Antique Expo is Sept. 20 and 21 at the new Crete-Monee High School, 1515 Exchange St. Show hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. The show will include Steiff bears, dolls, depression glass, furniture, lamps, cookie jars, jewelry, vintage clothes, antique toys, books, games, records, Coca-Cola items, American coins, glass crystal, large display of price guide books, pattern glass, sports collectables, figurines, porcelain, signed old art glass, Tiffany silver and bronzes, antique dog figures, railroad, military, political, and brewery collectables. Mary Lou's Crystal Repair will be on-site offering expert crystal and porcelain repair. Admission is $3 per person - children 12 and younger are admitted free.

Golf outing | Frankfort, Ill.

The Friends of Michael Williams will host a golf outing Sept. 20 at Green Garden Country Club, 9511 W. Monee-Manhattan Road in Frankfort, Ill. Williams, a 7-year-old from Highland, died Sept. 6, 2001. He had neuroblastoma. Beth Possley and Renee Williams founded the Friends of Michael Williams to raise awareness and money for research of neuroblastoma. The golf outing is $140 per person for golf and cart, lunch and dinner. Dinner only is available for $45. Organizers are also looking for donations for raffle and silent auction items.

Golf outing | Calumet City

Calumet City Chamber of Commerce is hosting its annual golf outing at noon Sept. 19 at River Oaks Billy Casper Golf Course. Groups will be competing in "Best Ball" format for prizes. Each golfer will also have a chance to win a car as well as other individual prizes. Golf, lunch and door prizes will cost $75 per golfer. Sponsorships are available.

So many veterans feel confused about benefits and services they've earned. There's so much to know...and so many changes from one year to the next. That's why the nonprofit D-A-V and the Harley-Davidson Foundation have teamed up to offer help. The DAV Mobile Service Office will be at Oak Lawn Harley-Davidson, L.L.C., 11040 South Cicero Avenue, Oak Lawn, Illinois, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2008, to personally provide the best counseling and claim filing assistance available. Photo exhibit | Chicago Heights

The Prairie State College annual Student Exhibit/Photographer of the Year features selected works by students in fine arts, photography and graphic communications. The gallery is on the college's main campus, 202 S. Halsted St.

The exhibit also honors the college's Photographer of the Year, Krystal King, of Homewood.

Tutoring | University Park

Governors State University's Graduate Program in Reading is sponsoring The Literacy Zone, a reading tutorial program for students in grades six through 12. The one-to-one program brings students experiencing reading problems together with teachers. Students meet on campus with certified, experienced teachers enrolled in the Master of Arts Reading Program at GSU. Sessions are on from 4:45 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Sept. 16 through Dec. 2. There is a $100 registration fee. However, $30 is refunded to the parents/guardians of students who complete the program with good attendance and return all Literacy Zone materials.

A free fall campfire program will be held at 7:30 p.m. today at Oak Ridge Prairie County Park, 301 S. ATTORNEY HONORED | Merrillville

Steve Tokarski, a Crown Point resident who practices law in Schererville, will be honored at a dinner at 2 p.m. Sept. 21 at the Salvatorian Monastery, 5755 Pennsylvania Ave. for his years of service to Polonia, the community and his church. Hosted by PNA Lodge 2365 - Silver Bell Club, tickets are $30. A cash bar and greetings begin at 1 p.m., and lunch at 2 p.m. will be followed by a short program. Reservatons are required. INTERNATIONAL FILM | Hammond

Purdue University Calumet's International Film Series resumes with a campus showing of "Prez dozhdot" (Before the Rain), at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 17 in YJean Chambers Hall in the Student Union & Library, room 353. A Macedonian film by Milcho Manchevski, it deals with violence in the nations of the former Yugoslavia. All films are presented in their original language with English subtitles. A faculty-led discussion will take place before and after each film viewing.Admission is free. Limited seating is available.

TRAVELOGUE SHOWN | St. John

Crown Point Christian School will present its first travelogue, "Sea to Sea in a Model T," at 7 p.m. Sept. 17 on a 20-foot screen in new school gym, 10550 Park Place St. Don and Fran VanPolen travel from "Sea to Sea" in a 1926 Model T Roadster to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Henry Ford's old car. Their journey takes them from Puget Sound in Washington State to the Easternmost town and lighthouse in America. Along the way they describe the landscape and tell the story of Henry Ford's old car, the car that began mass production of automobiles all over the world. Families are welcome. A free will offering will be taken and a generous donor will match donations up to $10,000.

Lake Central Band Boosters' fifth annual Take the Car or Take the Cash raffle is in full swing. A 2008 Ford Mustang or $10,000 cash goes to the winning ticket holder if the minimum 2,800 tickets are sold. If fewer than 2,800 are sold, it becomes a 50/50 raffle. All proceeds go to support Lake Central band programs. Tickets cost $10 each and can be purchased from any Lake Central band student or online at www.lcband.com using PayPal. MOVIE IN THE PARK | Hammond

The public is invited to a free movie in the park at 7 p.m. Sept. 19 at Hessville Park, 173rd Street and Kennedy Avenue.
