Woman passenger hurt in crash of motorcycles
A Michigan City area woman remained hospitalized Monday after a weekend crash involving two Harley-Davidson motorcycles.
Sherry Turner, 53, of 2612 W. County Road 1000 North was admitted to St. Anthony Memorial.
Sherry Turner required four stitches in her head and also suffered a concussion, said her husband, Del Turner.
According to LaPorte County police, Sherry Turner was on the backseat of a 1996 Harley-Davidson motorcycle driven by her husband.
They were westbound on U.S. 20 near Evergreen Plaza when Turner began making a right turn.
A 1970 Harley-Davidson motorcycle driven by a 71-year-old Michigan City man was traveling behind him.
Just as Turner started making the turn, a witness told police the Michigan City man had veered to his right and was trying to pass him. He drove into the side of the couple's motorcycle.
Police said both drivers had abrasions but their injuries weren't as serious.
Del Turner said the motorcycles involved in the crash were involved in a poker run fundraising event.

Grim reaper decoration stolen from front yard
LaPorte County police are hoping to find a 7 foot tall grim reaper figure stolen from a yard.
Kim Antisdel told police on Friday she discovered the Halloween decoration made of plywood missing from her front lawn at 6732 W. 450 North outside Michigan City.
The scary looking symbol of death was homemade and her mother, Beverly Cauley, painted the wooden creature, she said.
According to police, the grim reaper can be identified by Cauley's name, which she stamped on the scythe.

Neighbor badly beaten at mobile home park
A man was badly beaten and the suspect was arrested after the suspect fled a Kingsford Heights mobile home park on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
Justin Graves, 26, was booked into the LaPorte County Jail for being an habitual traffic violator, a felony, and misdemeanor battery.
Before 1 a.m. Sunday, LaPorte County Police responded to Deerfield Estates at 7701 S. U.S. 35.
Glenn Stark told officers he had just gone to bed when his telephone rang and a woman asked him to come next door, saying Justin wanted to talk to him.
As he approached, Stark told police Graves' wife, Cassandra, ran out screaming.
Justin was chasing after her and punched Stark numerous times in the face.
Stark told police he also was kicked repeatedly.
Graves, who has a suspended driver's license, was found by police on the motorcycle at Ind. 39 and U.S. 6.
According to police, Graves told investigators he woke up and his wife was gone.
Graves said he went over to his neighbor's residence and saw her and Stark on a sofa "cuddled up" next to each other, according to police.

LaPorte man arrested on intimidation charges
It took several police officers to handcuff a LaPorte man during a scuffle that sent one of the officers to the hospital.
Police were called to a disturbance after 1 a.m. Sunday at 112 W. 5th St. and located a man wearing only blue jean shorts in the roadway.
The man later identified as 20-year old Tim Lisak was threatening a woman and officer Brian Favia, who needed help from several of his law enforcement colleagues during an obscenity-laced tirade.
While en route to the county jail, police said Lisak kept head butting the cage inside the patrol vehicle.
He was charged with three counts of felony intimidation; public intoxication and other offenses.
Officer Favia was treated and released from LaPorte Hospital for a large laceration to his right hand sustained in the struggle, police said.
