ST. JOHN--Developments to bring more than 80 housing units
ST. JOHN | Plan Commissioners on Wednesday gave final plat approval to three more subdivisions in St. John, continuing the trend of residential development in town.
Between 2005 and 2006, St. John gained 962 residents, more than any other community in the region, according to U.S. Census Bureau figures released in June.
The subdivisions approved Wednesday total more than 80 new dwellings.
Meadows of St. John Phase 2, east of U.S. 41 off Bingo Lake Road, will bring 18 residential units, said Plan Commission President Dennis Wilson.
Crossing Creek on the south side of 93rd Avenue at Deodor Street is a 52-lot subdivision, Wilson said.
The third subdivision, Cardinal Cove, is an 11-lot subdivision at Primrose Drive and Goldenrod.
In other business, Plan Commissioners approved an extension of primary plat approval for Park Place Christian Community of St. John, an independent and assisted living facility. The facility will open at U.S. 231 and Park Place, in the Gates of St. John.
The developer is in the process of leasing the space. Construction has not begun, but the developer plans to begin landscaping soon, Town Manager Steve Kil said.
