National Weather Service issues a Tornado watch

The National Weather Service issued a Tornado Watch for portions of North Central and Northeast Illinois and Northwest Indiana.

Several counties are listed in Illinois including Cook and Will counties, and in Indiana: Lake, Porter, Newton, Jasper and Benton counties are included according to the National Weather Service's Web site.

The warning is in effect until 1 a.m.

According to the Web site, thunderstorms developing across central Iowa will move into Northern Illinois later tonight and into Northwest Indiana late tonight into Monday morning. Heavy rainfall and gusty winds will be possible with the storms.

A flash flood watch also remains in effect through late Monday night in portions of Illinois and Indiana, according to the Web site.

In Illinois, those areas include: Ford, Iroquois, Kankakee and Livingston counties.

In Indiana, those areas include: Benton, Jasper, Lake, Newton and Porter counties.
