Times Staff Report
Lake County prosecutors are reviewing the information given them by Gary police about Monday's fatal shooting of Archie Strickland Jr., 30.
No decision has been made about filing charges, said Diane Poulton, spokeswoman for the prosecutor's office.
Investigators suspect a male relative of Strickland fatally shot him during an argument, Gary police Cmdr. Samuel Roberts said.
Gary police would not comment on whether Strickland's relative was still in custody Wednesday.
Strickland was at his mother's house in the 1700 block of Garfield Street when he suffered a single gunshot wound to the groin.
Roberts said Strickland and the relative were arguing, and Strickland began hitting his relative. Strickland's mother went upstairs to call police when she heard a gunshot, Roberts said.
Strickland was pronounced dead at 8:25 p.m. at the Methodist Hospitals Northlake Campus in Gary.
