'50s Christmas | Whiting
The Whiting Parks Department will be taking a trip Dec. 11 to the Towle Theater in Hammond to see a Fabulous '50s Christmas, a tribute to Perry Como and Andy Williams. The bus will be leaving at 7 p.m. from the Whiting Community Center. Tickets are $20 and will include show and bus. Deadline for registration has been extended until all tickets are sold.

St. Mary School is sponsoring an evening with Dr. Ray Guarendi at 7 p.m. Nov. 10 at St. Mary-Hildebrandt Hall, 525 N. Lafayette St. He is a father of 10, clinical psychologist, author, public speaker and radio host on Relevant Radio and EWTN television. He will offer ideas on raising better children, dealing with challenges of ADD, forgiving, divorce situations, teen dilemmas, adoption, coping with stress as couples and more. He has been a guest on Oprah, Joan Rivers, Scott Ross Prime Time, 700 Club, Gordon Elliot and CBS This Morning. Tickets are $20 per person, $30 a couple and are available at the school or the St. Mary Church Rectory Office.

Pancake breakfast | Whiting
Humane Society Calumet Area will have a pancake breakfast from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 16 at St. John the Baptist Catholic School, 1844 Lincoln. Tickets will be sold at the shelter in Munster, Full Circle of Art, Geffert's Hardware and Rex Music. They are $5 if bought in advance or $6 at the door.

Fish fry dinner | Highland
Highland Elks Lodge 981 is sponsoring a fish fry from 4 to 7 p.m. Nov. 14 at the lodge hall, 3120 45th St. It will include fish, cole slaw, cottage cheese, beet three-beans salad and potato chips. Chicken tenders are also available.

Whiting Post 80 will hold a veterans appreciation spaghetti dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Nov. 11 at the post home, 2003 Indianapolis Blvd. Veterans are guests and will eat free. Other adults are asked to donate $5 and children 12 and younger eat for $3.

Community Hospital will offer the program Are you Dizzy? from 5 to 6 p.m. Nov. 18 at the Community Hospital Fitness Pointe at 9950 Calumet Ave.
A physical therapist will discuss causes of dizziness, vestibular system and inner ear anatomy and treatment. Certain types of dizziness along with how physical therapy can help alleviate dizziness, improve balance and general activity level will be discussed. Register for this free program.
