East Chicago mayor George Pabey is scheduled to introduce a new police chief Tuesday morning.
A news release from city spokesman Damian Rico did not explain the reason for Chief Angelo Machuca Jr. departure, or name his replacement.
Pabey will introduce the new chief Tuesday at a city hall ceremony, according to the release.
"In an effort to continue our strong and responsible leadership.... I will share my appointment with our citizens and encourage them to consider a leadership that has a vested interest in public safety and continuing to move our city forward," Pabey said in the release.
