FEST & CAR SHOW | Highland
St. James Festival, Car and Bike Show is July 19 at 9640 Kennedy Ave. Registration is from 4:30 to 6 p.m. and the show follows. A participant fee of $15 is asked, with a free T-shirt given for those who sign up by July 3. The fee is $20 after that date. Spectators are admitted free. Bike and car blessings, beer garden, food, music, trophies in 16 classes, magnetic plaque, goody bags and free give-a-ways will be featured.

STEP CLASS | Munster
Systematic Training for Effective Parenting will be offered at 7 p.m. Tuesdays, July 8 through Aug. 12, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 8955 Columbia Ave. The class will be under the leadership of Bill and Christine Cangiano and Pat and Jennifer Feeney. STEP/Teen is a training course for parents and others who want to learn more effective ways to communicate with school aged children. Meet with other parents in an atmosphere of mutual support while learning effective ways of communicating and building self-esteem. Cost is $25 per person or $40 per couple and includes a book. Register by July 3. Child-care is available upon request.

WORSHIP ON THE LAKE | Cedar Lake
A family worship experience with a live praise band and a message about wisdom from the Promiseland team will be hosted by Community Bible Church at 10 a.m. July 6 on the lakefront at the Park of the Red Cedars, Cedar Lake Town Complex, 7408 Constitution Ave. Everyone is welcome to this service during the Cedar Lake Summerfest, and free activity boxes will be distributed to children. A ground breaking ceremony will be held at 11:15 p.m. July 6 at Living Hope Church, 9000 Taft St. All are also welcome for the Praise and Worship service at 10 a.m.

MILITARY PRAYER | Chesterton
KP Duty, a ministry of Liberty Bible Church, will meet at 6:30 p.m. July 7 in the food court at the church, 824 N. Calumet Ave. The group supports military personnel and their loved ones through prayer, listening and caring. The public is invited. Child care is provided by appointment, only.
