CALUMET CITY

22-year-old wanted on three warrants arrested

Calumet City police arrested Michael Bruce, 22, of Calumet City, on several outstanding warrants on Tuesday.

Police noticed him at the intersection of 155th Street and Stateline Road while on patrol. Bruce ran to his residence on the first block of 155th Street, where his mother allowed police in, police records state. Bruce was hiding in the attic but surrendered without incident, police records state.

Bruce was wanted on an outstanding warrant for a traffic violation in Calumet City and a no-bond warrant from Cook County sheriff's police for delivery of a controlled substance, Calumet City Assistant Police Chief Tony Augun said. There was another no-bond warrant in his name, records show.

Bruce was arrested in September on a narcotics charge, and a warrant was issued when he failed to show up in court for his arraignment Nov. 28, said Andy Conklin, spokesman for the Cook County state's attorney's office.

CHICAGO

Neighborhood fest will feature music and food

Annunciata Fest continues at 11:30 a.m. today at the parish, 3750 E. 112th St. in Chicago's East Side neighborhood. The festivities follow a Mass at 10:30.

There will be food booths, live music, a beer and wine tent, and raffles. The fest also will feature games of chance, children's games, freethrow competitions, children's karaoke in the gym, face painting and more. There will be a bean bag tournament is at 1:30 p.m.

Ted Tomczak's Take Five polka band performs at 11:30 a.m., with The Relics, a cover band, performing at 4:30 p.m., and Mike Roman and the Tellstars performing at 8.

STEGER

Celebrate village pride at annual 2-day festival

Steger Days activities start at 1 p.m. today and Sunday at Veterans Park, 35th Street and Phillips Street. Food, crafts and product vendors will set up in the park both days.

There will be free activities for kids, including, games, train rides, moonwalk and magic show with Brutus the Psychic Bunny Rabbit. The Steger Fire Department street dance will be at 5:30 p.m. under the tent.

Sunday's activities will kick off with Brackman's Car Show starting at noon until 4 p.m.

The Keeping Our Children Safe parade kicks off at 1 p.m. at 34th and Morgan streets. The local band Near Beer performs under the tent at 2 p.m. The Steger Jr. Widgets Football Game begins at 3 p.m. at the football field on 36th Street. Come out and cheer for your team.

SAUK VILLAGE

Village is preparing for Family Fest next month

This year's annual Sauk Village Family Festival is planned for Sept. 12 to 14 at 1771 Sauk Trail, at the corners of Sauk Trail and Jeffrey Avenue, and will include a carnival, beer garden, entertainment and multiple food vendors.

Sponsors are being sought for the festival publication. People, businesses and organizations interested in having their names and addresses printed in the program can contact Debbie Williams at (708) 351-8922.

Sponsors can pay $75 to have their name and phone number listed on a shared page of the program, $250 for a quarter-page ad, $500 for a half-page ad and $1,000 for a full-page ad.

The space can be filled with a name, logo, pictures, business card or coupon. The deadline for sponsorship is Sept. 1.
