GRIFFITH | A Griffith man who fell asleep in his car was robbed of his wallet and later arrested on a charge of minor possession of alcohol.
Daniel J. Vanek, 18, of 734 N. Lindberg, was arrested at Glen Park Avenue and Lafayette Street at 5:15 a.m. after he told officers he had been robbed earlier as he slept in his car.
He told them he had fallen asleep earlier in his car in the 600 block of North Indiana Avenue when two men opened the door to his car, punched him in the face and took his wallet. They fled north on Indiana Avenue.
Vanek had no apparent injuries and refused medical treatment. His wallet was later found by a resident in the 700 block of North Rensselaer.
