Times Staff Report

CHESTERTON | A torched Greyhound bus plugged Interstate 94's eastbound lanes for hours Thursday.

No one was hurt when the bus caught fire around 5 p.m. at I-94 and Ind. 49 in Chesterton, an Indiana state trooper said. All passengers were removed before fire consumed the bus, the trooper said.

The blaze first blocked all eastbound lanes, then limited traffic to a trickle, the trooper said. Emergency crews did not know Thursday evening what sparked the blaze, the trooper said.

All lanes reopened just after 8 p.m.
