GARY | A 22-year-old Gary man was found shot to death early Saturday morning in an alley near 23rd Avenue and Cleveland Street.
Jacob Cottom suffered at least one gunshot wound, according to a spokeswoman for the Lake County coroner's office. She said the coroner's office was dispatched to the alley at 2:16 a.m.
The death has been ruled a homicide, but the coroner's office hasn't yet performed an autopsy.
Gary police said they were still investigating the case Saturday afternoon and couldn't release any information.
A woman who answered the phone at Cottom's listed address said family members could not comment.
