HARVEY | More than 1,000 children will find gifts under their trees today, thanks in part to volunteers and donors at Restoration Ministries.

The organization recently held its annual Christmas Toy Store at its Harvey Boxing Club. Restoration served more than 150 families and helped provide toys for more than 1,000 children.

Every year, Restoration Ministries opens the Christmas Toy Store for families who would otherwise struggle to give their children Christmas presents. At the store, parents and grandparents purchase new toys at low prices, between $1 and $5.

Nearly 2,000 toys were donated by students from local schools, churches and businesses for the Toy Store. Parents shopped from a wide range of popular toys and selected the exact toys that their children have on their wish lists or have asked for from Santa.

Located in Harvey, Restoration Ministries serves more than 7,000 people annually with the help of more than 400 volunteers. Its 28 programs reach out to all segments of the population with a special emphasis on recovering addicts and at-risk, underprivileged youth.
