MARKHAM | The case of a Ford Heights teenager charged with first-degree murder will continue next month.

Dominique Bentley, now 16, is charged in the June 12, 2007, shooting death of Shane Bramwell, 21. Bentley appeared Tuesday in Cook County court in Markham.

Bentley's next status hearing was scheduled for Sept. 25 in Room 108 in Markham, said Andy Conklin, spokesman for the Cook County state's attorney's office

Prosecutors accuse Bentley, who is being held without bond, of shooting Bramwell, a Chicago Heights man who had traveled to Ford Heights to meet a girl he had met at the Markham courthouse. Bramwell was pronounced dead at the scene.

Marissa Mayfield, 19, of Glenwood; Jimmy Brooks, 25, of Ford Heights; and Joseph Walker, 18, of Ford Heights, also face charges of first-degree murder and attempted armed robbery in connection with the case.

Mayfield also appeared in court Tuesday and is next scheduled to appear Sept. 25, Conklin said. Walker's next hearing is scheduled for Monday, and Brooks will be in court Aug. 27, Conklin said.

Bramwell was driving a silver Pontiac Grand Prix at night when he turned onto Drexel Avenue, police said. Bramwell, alone in the car, was approached by two men and a short time later witnesses heard glass break and a gunshot, police said.

Bramwell drove north on Drexel and crossed U.S. 30 before driving through a chain-link fence and into a backyard of a residence, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
