A Purdue University freshman from Merrillville was arrested by campus police on suspicion of robbing a pizza delivery driver, according to the Purdue News Services in West Lafayette.

Torrence V. Ferguson faces preliminary charges of robbery, possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to deal and reckless possession of drug paraphernalia, campus police Capt. John Cox reported.

Ferguson was taken to the Tippecanoe County Jail, where he was being held in lieu of a $10,000 bond, police said.

According to police reports, officers were called to the area of 14 Ross Ade Drive after a delivery driver reported he was trying to deliver an order when he was robbed by a man wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and a ski mask covering the lower half of his face.

Cox said police saw Ferguson, who matched the description, and detained him.

During a search of Ferguson, police said they found a knife, a black partial face mask, several small bags of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
