VALPARAISO | Valparaiso University's 2008-09 recital series will feature numerous performances by the university's music faculty and students, along with a number of guest artists and ensembles.

Unless otherwise indicated, the following recitals and concerts are free and open to the public:

Sept. 5 n Faculty recital featuring tenor Dr. Christopher Cock, soprano Maura Janton Cock and pianist Nicole Lee, 7:30 p.m., VU Center for the Arts;

Sept. 15 n Community Organist Festival, 7:30 p.m., Chapel of the Resurrection;

Sept. 20 n Faculty recital featuring baritone Ralph Klapis and pianist Dr. Joseph Bognar, 7:30 p.m., VU Center for the Arts;

Oct. 3 n Faculty recital featuring French horn John Schreckengost and pianist Nicole Lee, 7:30 p.m., VU Center for the Arts;

Oct. 4 n Student organ recital featuring members of Valparaiso's chapter of the American Guild of Organists, 3:30 p.m., Chapel of the Resurrection;

Oct. 5 n Faculty recital featuring pianist Yu Lien The and Lori Sims, 3 p.m., VU Center for the Arts;

Oct. 28 n VU Faculty Jazz Trio, 7:30 p.m., VU Center for the Arts, tickets free but must be reserved;

Nov. 8 n Luce Concert Band and Community/University Concert Band, 4 p.m., Chapel of the Resurrection;

Nov. 9 n Faculty recital featuring violinist Dr. Gregory Maytan and pianist Nicole Lee, 3 p.m., VU Center for the Arts;

Nov. 13 n Guest recital featuring the North American Brass Company, 7:30 p.m., VU Center for the Arts;

Nov. 18 n Student recital featuring the VU Jazz Ensemble with guest Bruce Knepper, 7:30 p.m., VU Center for the Arts;

Dec. 2 n Julefest: Sounds of the Season featuring the Luce Concert Band and Valparaiso Community/University Band, 4 p.m., VU Center for the Arts;

Jan. 9 n Guest recital featuring violinist Martha Walvoord, 7:30 p.m., VU Center for the Arts;

Jan. 11 n Faculty recital featuring organist Dr. John Bernthal, 3 p.m., Chapel of the Resurrection;

Feb. 7 n VU Composers Recital featuring new works by the University's music students and faculty, 7:30 p.m., VU Center for the Arts;

Feb. 8 n Faculty recital featuring violinist Dr. Gregory Maytan and pianist Dr. Joseph Bognar, 3 p.m., VU Center for the Arts;

Feb. 15 n Faculty recital featuring mezzo soprano Virginia Oram, 3 p.m., VU Center for the Arts;

Feb. 20 n Faculty recital featuring cellist David Machavariani, 7:30 p.m., VU Center for the Arts;

March 22 n Faculty recital featuring oboist Jennet Ingle, 3 p.m., VU Center for the Arts;

April 4 n Faculty recital featuring pianist Dr. Joseph Bognar, 7:30 p.m., VU Center for the Arts;

April 21 n David G. Truemper Memorial Concert, 8 p.m., Chapel of the Resurrection, tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for senior citizens and students;

April 6 n Faculty recital featuring Gregory Maytan, violin, 3 p.m., VU Center for the Arts;

April 25 n Luce Concert Band and Small High School Band Festival, 3 p.m., Chapel;

April 25 n Community Band Festival featuring the Valparaiso Community/University Band, 7:30 p.m., Chapel;

May 16 n Senior Honors Recital featuring several of Valparaiso's graduating music students, 6:30 p.m., VU Center for the Arts.
