HAMMOND | Police are asking for the public's help in identifying a woman who jumped to her death from a Borman Expressway ramp off of Kennedy Avenue late Friday afternoon in an apparent suicide.

Lt. Richard Hoyda said several motorists called police around 5:45 p.m. to report that a white woman in her 50s had jumped from the ramp, apparently with the help of a small step ladder.

The woman was between 5 feet 3 inches and 5 feet 5 inches tall with light brown collar-length hair, Hoyda said. She was wearing a blue-green sweat shirt and sweat pants.

Anyone with information on the possible identity of the woman should call the Hammond police nonemergency number at (219) 853-6490.
