* Chess Night with Tim will be held at 7 p.m. Aug. 6 in the Crete Public Library's large meeting room. Children ages 7 and older will learn the skills of playing chess while others can learn new tactics. Register in person or via phone.
* The Crete Public Library's Children's Department will hold Drop-in Story Time at 10:30 a.m. every Tuesday this month. It's open to all.
* Now that you have read the Harry Potter books and watched the movies, sign up for Harry Potter Scene It! to be held at 2 p.m. Aug. 8 in the Crete Library's Children's Department. Children 8 and older can test their Harry Potter knowledge by playing games and trivia. Register in person or via phone.
* The Crete Library's Children's Department will hold Boys Book Club at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 14. Boys 6 and older will be reading from the series A to Z Mysteries by Ron Roy.

* The Children's Department will hold Bubble Night! beginning at 7 p.m. Aug. 14. Register in person or by phone for this family program.
Mother Daughter Book Talk is at 7 p.m. Aug. 27 in the Children's Department. The chosen book is "Project Mulberry" by Linda Sue Park. Register.
