Summer reading | South Holland
The South Holland Public Library has begun sign-ups for the "Get In The Game, Read" Summer Reading Program. Registration continues through July 5. This reading program is open to children from preschool to 14 years old and runs until Aug. 2. Children can maintain their reading skills while they read books of interest to them. AARP driving course | Hazel Crest
Community residents 50 and older can work on their behind-the-wheel skills with a two-session course offered by Advocate South Suburban Hospital and AARP. The course will be offered from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 16 and 17 in the hospital auditorium, 17800 S. Kedzie Ave. The two-day course will help drivers refine their skills, develop defensive driving techniques, and re-familiarize themselves with rules of the road and license requirements. Participants who attend both days of the course may be eligible for a reduction in car insurance rates. The program costs $10 payable to AARP. Registration is required.

Indiana University alumni in Northwest Indiana are invited to join the IU family for an evening of fun, music and drama July 17 as the IU Northwest Alumni Association and the Lakeshore Region Chapter of the IU Alumni Association gather at the Center for Visual and Performing Arts, 1040 Ridge Road, for the acclaimed production "Phantom." The evening begins at 6:30 p.m. with a reception for IU alumni and guests, followed by an 8 p.m. performance.
