Native-American Gardening: Methods, tools and heirloom seeds will be the topic of tonight's meeting of the Kankakee Valley Historical Society, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Kouts Library, 101 East Daumer Road.

The topic will be presented by Cindy Deardorff.

The program will include early accounts of what the first Europeans saw in terms of agriculture, companion planting, archaeological accounts, methods and tools used in planting, and the native history of today's heirloom seeds.

Deardorff is best known for her work with Buckley Homestead and Chellburg Farm gardens.

The meeting is open to the public at no charge.
