Three rollover accidents were reported in Schererville and Dyer Monday morning, sending at least one person to an area hospital.
One of the accidents occurred around 9:30 a.m. at U.S. 30 and Austin Avenue in Schererville, causing long traffic delays due to the roadway being restricted to one lane of travel. At least one person was transported by ambulance to an area hospital.
Another rollover accident was reported around the same time in Dyer on Calumet Avenue near 213th Street. In that accident, a vehicle occupied by two men slid off the road and into a steel fence along the west side of the Briar Ridge subdivision before coming to a rest upside down in a ditch.
The men were uninjured in the accident.
Dyer police reported an earlier rollover accident in the same area in less than an hour, when another vehicle rolled over in front of their fire station at Calumet Avenue and 213th Street. A teen driver had to be extricated from his vehicle in that accident, police said.
Another accident occured on U.S. 41 in Schererville around 9 a.m. in front of the Home Depot store, causing long traffic delays there.
