Around the square
City of Crown Point Office of Special Events is accepting vendors for Crown Point's Annual Farmers' Market. The market runs 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday, June thru October, on South Main Street, just south of the square.
Cost to rent a 10-x-10 booth space for the season is $100, or rent at a weekly rate of $15. Baked goods and other items must meet Lake County Health Department regulations as listed in the application. Tops in math
Congratulations to Taft Middle School students who placed in the State Math Contest: sixth graders Ryan Prodoehl, Joshua David, Ellie Burrell, Renee Brigham and Erik Matievich; seventh graders Kosta Leontaras, Christopher Dietrich, Kristin Martin, Joshua Allen and Liberty Stratton, and eighth graders Craig Eggen, Kevin Liu, Cassandra Anderson, Patrick Jansen and James Malott.
Their results will be submitted for possible state awards.

View local artist Joyce Girgenti's art exhibit, "Inspired Brushstrokes," through March 15 in the lobby of First Financial Bank, 11890 Broadway.
Travel north with the Y
Southlake YMCA is offering a sightseeing trip June 9-13 to Mackinac Island, Mich.
Cost is $499 per person double occupancy, or $649 for single occupancy, and includes 8 meals, a visit to Mackinac Island with a guided carriage tour, visit to Historic Fort Mackinac, boat ride through the Soo Locks and sight seeing in Sault Sainte Marie, tour of Mackinaw City and gaming at Kewadin Sault Casino.
A $75 deposit is due at registration, with the balance due March 28.

New at the library
Crown Point Community Library welcomes Denise Krapf as its new Youth Services Assistant. She replaces Vicky Gianni, who has accepted a position as librarian at Jane Ball Elementary School in Cedar Lake after more than 13 years at the library. Gianni will remain on staff to facilitate Teen Advisory Board meetings.
