GMAC Financial Services will provide funds, volunteers for home in Riverdale
CHICAGO | Habitat for Humanity Chicago South Suburbs is receiving a boost from GMAC Financial Services with volunteer help and house funding.
The company will provide partial sponsorship and volunteers to build a home in Riverdale.
The three-bedroom, two-bathroom home will be built with the sweat equity of a qualified Habitat partner family. Construction on the home began in May and will be completed by Thanksgiving.
Habitat for Humanity Chicago South Suburbs is currently building three homes in Riverdale and is in need of additional volunteers and funding.
"We are thankful to GMAC for their donation that will help families locally and across the country have a simple, decent place to call home," said David Tracy, executive director of the affiliate.
GMAC's support will include funding to help build 12 Habitat homes in the United States, as well as additional homes in Canada and Mexico. More than 500 GMAC employees also will join in efforts to build the homes this year.
"We salute the important work of Habitat for Humanity in creating safe, decent and affordable housing," Millie Reyes-Williams, senior loan consultant for GMAC Mortgage said in a news release. "GMAC employees and associates are active on behalf of Habitat because we believe in supporting the communities where we live and work, and we know that homeowners play a vital role in building safe, strong and healthy communities."
Sponsorships also have been awarded to Habitat affiliates in Atlanta; Charlotte, N.C.; Dallas; Detroit; Jacksonville, Fla.; Minneapolis; New York City; Philadelphia; Costa Mesa, Calif.; Waterloo, Iowa; Winston-Salem, N.C.; Toronto; and Mexico City.
"Our long-standing partnership with GMAC has helped provide the resources needed to build affordable housing with hundreds of families," Jonathan Reckford, CEO of Habitat for Humanity International, said in the release. "We are excited to have GMAC's support once again as we embark on another year of working together to make the dream of homeownership a reality for many families."
For more than 15 years, the financial and volunteer support offered by GMAC and its subsidiaries has helped Habitat build and rehabilitate hundreds of homes.
