FORD HEIGHTS | Police are investigating whether gang violence was involved early Monday in a shooting that seriously wounded a 23-year-old Chicago Heights man.
Cook County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Penny Mateck said Tuesday that the victim was driving himself and three others passengers east through the intersection of 11th Street and Lexington Circle about 1:54 a.m. Monday when shots were fired from a nearby location and the victim was hit in the back of the head.
Mateck, declined to identify the victim, said they were taken to Advocate Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn.
Police said the other three occupants were unharmed.
