WINFIELD
Town soliciting bids for road construction
The Winfield Town Council has authorized engineering firm DLZ to solicit bids for next year's road construction.
Town officials say they plan to issue an $885,000 general obligation bond to finance the work. Winfield officials appeared before the Indiana Department of Local Government Finance in August requesting the bond issue.
However, the department has postponed a decision to consider the matter until late December.
Despite the delay, council members decided to move ahead with the bid process last week.
Council President Ken Thieneman said the bids would be good for up to 120 days -- giving the town ample time to issue the bonds.
