Morgan Mrotek

About Morgan:

Born Sept. 18, 1991.

Daughter of Ron and Debbie Mrotek of Valparaiso.

Sister to Maddie.

Granddaughter of Zoie Treadway of Roselawn.

Member of First Baptist Church of Lansing, IL.

Accomplishments: Morgan Mrotek is a junior at Washington Township High School. An honor student, she's taking pre calculus along with a dual credit biology class through Purdue University. Mrotek is junior class vice-president; she was class treasurer last year. She is secretary of Key Club that recently started K-Kids Club, a service organization affiliated with Kiwanis Club at Washington Township Elementary School. Mrotek is active in Student Council that wrapped gifts for donations at Westfield Southlake Mall raising money for Hilltop Shelter. She is chairman of this year's prom committee, active in Students Against Destructive Decisions and volleyball serving as captain the past two years. She was selected and attended Rotary Youth Leadership Awards training program last spring. Mrotek is involved in ministries at church and will attend winter camp this month in Michigan. Every summer she volunteers at Pine Trail a church camp for youth in Saugatuck, Mich. and has helped with fall

and winter camps, too.

"It's my favorite place to be," she said of the retreats.

Personal heroes: "My grandmother, Zoie. She's going on her 90th-year and you would never know it. She's so fun and I love her; and my sister. She goes through a lot at school. She's tough but she's sweet."

What I read: "I like to read about diseases, I want to go into the medical field. I just read ‘The Hot Zone' by Laurlene McDaniels. I'll read anything by her."

What I do for fun: "I just like to hang out with my friends, go shopping a lot and play volleyball.

People might be surprised to now: "I'm now afraid to do hard work."
