VALPARAISO | A variety of summer courses at Valparaiso University are open to Northwest Indiana high school students interested in earning college credit and pursuing their academic interests.

Top consideration will be given to high school students who rank in the upper third of their high school class, have earned a composite score of

21 or above on the PLAN or ACT, 98 on the PSAT or 980 on the SAT-1 without the writing component. Tuition for qualified high school students is available at a discounted rate of $150 per credit hour.

Courses in drawing, ceramics, world human geography, U.S. history through sports, pre-calculus, comparative politics and film aesthetics are among those open to high school students.

Summer Session I runs from May 20 to June 27 and Summer Session II runs from June 30 to Aug. 8. The deadline for registering for Session I courses is May 17; the deadline for Session II registration is June 28.

Qualified high school students interested in the possibility of coursework at VU should contact the Office of Graduate Studies and Continuing Education at (219) 464-5313 or by e-mail to continuing.ed@valpo.edu.

Undergraduate and graduate-level summer classes also are open to newly admitted students, students from other institutions, continuing education students and non-degree seeking students. Courses are offered by most of the University's academic departments and include both evening classes and online classes. To request a schedule of classes or to register, contact the Office of Graduate Studies and Continuing Education.

Senior citizens have the opportunity to audit courses on a space-available basis through the Senior Adult Growth through Education program at a special low tuition rate.
