FAMILY WALK-A-THON | Crown Point

Trinity Lutheran Church and School will hold a Family Walk-A-Thon from 1 to 4 p.m. Sept. 21 at the Lake County Fairgrounds, 889 S. Court St. Registration begins at noon. Sponsored by the Trinity Day School Board, students are collecting pledges to raise funds for the school through the quarter-mile walk. The money earned will be divided equally among the teachers from each grade level to purchase classroom items. SouthSTAR Services will host its eighth Texas Hold'em Poker Tournament Sept. 21 at Ravisloe Country Club, 18231 S. Bowling fundraiser | Dyer

Bowl for Mason is from 7 to 10 p.m. Sept. 6 at Stardust Bowl, 1330 Sheffield Ave. The event will raise funds for Mason Gilbert's ongoing medical needs. Mason, of Schererville, was born on May 30, 2008 with Cornelia de Lange Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder. For a $50 donation(or $200 for a team of five), bowlers get three games, shoe rental, pizza, pop, and an event T-shirt. Pro Bowler Diandra Asbaty will be on hand to give bowling tips and sign autographs. There will also be a silent auction, door prizes and raffles.

The Crown Point Beef 'O' Brady's is donating 15 percent of all sales from 4 to 8 p.m. today to this year's Northwest Light The Night Walk.
