VALPARAISO | Hilltop Neighborhood House is planning its 9th annual Heartwarming Soups and Hometown Entertainment Dinner.
The event is set for Feb. 26 at St. Paul's Catholic Church on W. Harrison in Valparaiso. This year, 17 area restaurants will provide the soups, breads, and desserts for this all-you-eat buffet dinner. Participating restaurants are Billy Jack's, Bistro 157, Bon Femme, Culver's, Designer Desserts, Dish, Don Quijote, Espress Yourself, Maria Elena's, Mezza, Panera Bread, Pesto's Italian Restaurant, Pikk's, Premier Grill, Round the Clock, Strongbow Inn and Susie's Café. Two seatings are provided this year at 4:30 to 5:45 p.m. and 6 to 7:15 p.m. Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for children under 12. Tickets are available by calling (219) 477-4222 or at the door.
The event used to include "homespun tales" for the entertainment but instead they will be playing music during the dinner.
"We are now calling it hometown entertainment and we have music throughout the whole time while people are eating," said Debbie Lambert, executive director Hilltop Neighborood House. "Now we can visti and talk with people. We have shifted gears with the entertainemtn.

All proceeds provide childcare scholarships for children attending the Hilltop Neighborhood House childcare program. Hilltop Neighborhood House provided more than $117,000 in childcare scholarships to low income families during 2007. Thrivent Financial provides supplemental funding for this event making this a primary source of scholarship funds for children and families needing assistance with childcare fees.

money: all goes to childcare scholarship fund. we fund about 2500 every week in scholarships over 121000 just last year. we do a lot of different things. we dont get any federal funding.
