Historical Society | Calumet City
Calumet City Historical Society's current exhibit features model cars, model trucks, model gasoline stations and photographs of gasoline stations along the original Route 66 from local citizens. It runs through January 2009. The museum, 760 Wentworth Ave. in Calumet City, is open from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursdays and by appointment. The society meets monthly and area residents are invited to become members.

The group is a nonprofit dedicated to encouraging weight loss, improved health and fellowship.

Advocate South Suburban Hospital, 17800 S. Kedzie Ave., hosts free health awareness programs monthly. A support group for people with Parkinson's disease and their families offers information, resources and reassurance that participants do not have to face the illness alone. Meetings are held on the second Wednesday monthly, from 2:30 to 4 p.m. The next meeting will be held July 9 in the hospital dining room.
