Gary Nimtz, 44, taken into custody Thursday
VALPARAISO | Police said convicted sex offender Gary Nimtz was discovered this month sitting on a bench outside the Porter County Courthouse with a young boy who had been left there by his father.
When asked about the situation, Nimtz reportedly said, "I thought he should move. I was there first."
The June 6 incident is among several accusations that landed Nimtz back behind bars Thursday, a month after he was released from prison for having an underage girl spank him in a sexual manner, according to Porter County Adult Probation Officer Debbie Cincoski.
The 44-year-old Chesterton man is further accused of violating his probation by consuming alcohol, having extensive contact with another sex offender, who violated his probation and wound up back in prison, and moving without notifying the probation department, Cincoski said.
Further accusations are expected and a hearing has yet to be scheduled before Porter Superior Judge Roger Bradford.
This is the second time Nimtz has been arrested since he was released from prison May 27. He was sentenced March 20, 2006, to six years behind bars, to be followed by 10 years on probation.
He was taken back into custody on the day of his release because he had no place to stay that met the guidelines for sex offenders, Cincoski said.
Cincoski said she contacted a brother of Nimtz, who helped fund a stay at a local hotel before Nimtz moved into an area mobile home park.
Nimtz now faces being sent back to prison for his 10-year probation period.
