Veterans Day service | Chesterton
There will be a Veterans Day Memorial Service Nov. 9 at the Indiana Vietnam Memorial Wall, Ind. 40 and Porter Road, behind the ambulance station. The service will begin at 2 p.m. The event is hosted by Chapter 905, Vietnam Veterans of America. Also participating will be the Marine Corps League, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Vietnam Veterans of LaPorte County. VNA Hospice Choir looking for new voices
The Visiting Nurse Association's Hospice Choir is looking for new members to join the group. The choir rehearses every other Monday evening in Valparaiso. Members learn a cappella pieces to perform at memorial services and in patient rooms at the Arthur B. and Ethel V. Horton VNA Hospice Center. Note reading is not a requirement, but some singing experience is preferred.

Southlake Children's Choir is holding auditions for membership by appointment through August. Southlake Children's Choir is open to students, ages 7 to 15 years, who live in Lake and Porter counties. Auditions are approximately 15 minutes in length, and no experience or preparation is necessary. Southlake Children's Choir is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving young musicians from Northwest Indiana. South Haven Fire Department Auxiliary has cookbooks featuring a collection of recipes from group members, family and friends available for sale. The cookbooks sell for $10, plus $4 for shipping and handling. They may be purchased from any member of the auxiliary or at South Haven Fire Department, 398 W. County Road 700 North. All proceeds will go to South Haven Fire Department Auxiliary and the community and department events the group sponsors throughout the year. The cookbook contains 200 well-loved recipes, including appetizers, main dishes and desserts.
