Man, 27, accused of molesting 2 children
Valparaiso police Wednesday arrested a 27-year-old man on two counts of child molestation and one count of failure to register as a sex offender.
Kirk Castle Huffman, who lists his address at his parents' home in Hobart, but who police say was most recently living in Valparaiso and Washington Township, is accused of molesting two children. Huffman, a convicted sex offender, also is accused of failing to register as a sex offender. Police said he is required to provide police with updates about where he is living

Police arrest man on molestation charges
Portage police arrested Christopher Carmon, 40, of 3275 Denise, No. 102, Portage, on Wednesday on a child molestation charge. Police did not release details about the allegations or arrest.
The woman with whom Carmon lives, 38-year-old Connie Rizzo, was arrested at the same time on a felony charge of child neglect.

Police say man had an illegal switchblade knife
A Portage man was arrested at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday on charges of drunken driving, resisting and possession of an automatic knife.
David Peebles, 55, of 6421 Lakewood Ave., was arrested in the area of Clem Road and Freedom Street. Police said he possessed an illegal switchblade knife.

Two arrested at PHS on marijuana charges
Two people were arrested on drug charges Tuesday morning at Portage High School East.
Dean Grasham, 18, of Portage, was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and public intoxication.
Jordan McHargue, 18, of South Haven, was arrested on charges of possession of paraphernalia and public intoxication. Police said the two suspects smoked marijuana.

Injured man, 21, facing drunken driving charge
A Kouts man suffered a neck injury when he lost control of his car, flipped it at high speeds and landed in a ditch, police said.
The crash occurred at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday at 300 E. Ind. 8.
The Kouts man, Ryne Press, 21, of 497 E. Ind. 8, was taken to Porter Valparaiso Hospital Campus for treatment. Police said he faces a drunken driving charge because his blood-alcohol concentration was more than twice the legal limit.
