Police ask public's help in catching armed robbery suspect
The suspect in the Wednesday morning armed robbery at McDonald's in Burns Harbor was described as a black male in his late 20s standing 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighing 160 pounds. He had a shaved head and thick sideburns leading to a thin beard. He was wearing a black, hooded sweatshirt and driving a black, recent-model Toyota.
BURNS HARBOR | A man in the drive-up lane put a gun to the chest of a McDonald's clerk, threatened to kill her and got away with $173 early Wednesday morning.
Burns Harbor Police Chief Jerry Price said the man ordered a drink at the drive up lane around 1:45 a.m. and handed the clerk some change. The man said he had to get his wallet, turned in his seat, then got out of the car.
The clerk saw the man had a long-barreled, black revolver in the waistband of his pants. The man put the gun to the clerk's chest and demanded she hand over money.
"He told her, 'Don't move or I'll kill you,'" Price said.
The clerk gave the man $173 and before he drove away, he told her, "Stay there until I leave."
The man is described as a black male in his late 20s standing 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing 160 pounds with a shaved head and thick sideburns leading to a thin beard. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt at the time of the crime and driving a black, recent-model Toyota.
