MUNSTER | A local art gallery and salon is heading up a drive to get donations for Locks for Love.
Appointments may be made through Aug. 31 at Active Art Salon & Gallery, 9339 Calumet Ave., Suite B1.
Whoever donates the longest and heaviest amount of hair will win a gift basket worth more than $100 in products and other gifts.
Donors must have at least 10 inches of hair to donate, and it cannot be bleached. A cut and style will be finished at no cost in exchange for the donation.
Locks of Love is a nonprofit organization that provides hair pieces to needy children younger than 18 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis, according to a written release.
Most of the children have lost their hair because of alopecia areata, which has no known cause or cure. The prostheses help restore their self-esteem and confidence.
