HARVEY -- A single-vehicle crash sent five children to the hospital and closed the northbound lanes of Interstate 57 near Harvey Sunday afternoon.
According to Illinois State Police Trooper Fidel Aguilar, a mini-van veered off of the road and rolled over into a ditch around 4:10 p.m. Police closed the highway to northbound traffic for about an hour to allow ambulances to access the scene.
Aguilar said five children -- all from the same family -- were transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn with minor injuries. No citations were issued in the incident, he said.
No information was available on the driver or the hometown of the family, according to Aguilar.
