PORTAGE | A 24-year-old man was airlifted to a hospital late Wednesday morning following a 25-foot fall from a tree.

The fall happened about 11:30 a.m. in the 1900 block of Crisman Road.

The man was attempting to remove a branch from a tree at a home, Portage Fire Chief Bill Lundy said. The branch broke when he tried to secure it with a chain, and he fell to the ground, Lundy said.

The man, who was not identified, initially lost consciousness. He regained consciousness before being airlifted with unknown injuries, Lundy said.

He was transported to Advocate Christ Hospital and Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Ill., by the University of Chicago aeromedical unit.
