Officers offer tips on crime survival

PORTAGE | Business owners, employees and residents throughout Northwest Indiana are invited to attend a 90-minute Robbery Survival Seminar.

The seminar, Portage Police Chief Mark Becker said, is similar to one presented to bank employees throughout the region on a regular basis. It will provide information and tips on what a business or a person should do to survive a robbery.

Law enforcement professionals will offer the training free of charge to the public.

The seminar involves the Portage, Porter County, Valparaiso, Munster and Michigan City police departments, the Porter County prosecutor's office and the FBI.

It is scheduled from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Oct. 28 at the Portage High School auditorium, 6450 U.S. 6.
