PUMPKINS & CHILI | Lowell

Pumpkin Harvest festival and Chili Supper will be held Oct. 11 and 12 at Lake Prairie United Presbyterian Church, 18500 White Oak Ave. Pumpkins will be sold while they last from 2 to 8 p.m. Oct. 11 and noon to 4 p.m. Oct. 12, and chili will be served from 4 to 7 Oct. 11.

VENDOR FAIR | Schererville

American Business Women's Association, Indinois Chapter, will host a fall vendor fair from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 18 at St. John Township Community Center, 1515 W. Lincoln Highway. They are looking for vendors, crafters and home party consultants. Booths are available.

FALL FANTASY | Merrillville

Tickets are on sale for Holy Spirit Catholic Church's sixth annual Fall Fantasy fundraising event, set for Oct. 12 at The Radisson Hotel at Star Plaza, Interstate 65 and U.S. 30. The theme this year is "Boot Scootin' Boogie." A 30-minute live auction with Rick Cooke of Cooke's Auction as auctioneer and featuring a 1979 "Scoobie Doo" Volkswagen van, will complement a silent auction. To donate auction item, call Fay Iorio in the parish office at (219) 661-0644. Tickets are $35 and include a style show featuring the latest men and women's fashions from John Cicco's Menswear and Dress Barn. Country music will be provided by church choir member Lisa Spurr and her stepson, Steve Spurr. A cash bar will be available. The church's only fundraiser, proceeds are used to support the Winfield parish's St. Vincent de Paul ministry, helping those in need by providing material and spiritual assistance.

BOOK CIRCLE | Winfield, Crown Point

Nichol & Rose Literary Circle will meet at 1 p.m. Oct. 14 at the Crown Point Community Library's Winfield branch, 10645 Randolph St., to discuss the book "Eat, Pray, Love" by Elizabeth Gilbert, and at 1 p.m. Oct. 20 at the Crown Point Community Library, 214 S. Court St., to discuss the book "The Madonnas of Leningrad" by Debra Dean. New members are welcome.

Friends of the Crown Point Community Library will hold its Fall Book Sale from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and Oct. 7 and from 9 to 4:30 Oct. 8 at the library, 214 S. SHIPWRECK TALES | DeMotte

Members of the Underwater Archeological Society of Chicago, their stories will follow the theme of the Book to Bridge the Region reading initiative for October, "Shadow Divers." GROUP HAY RIDES | Merrillville

Reservations for group hay rides at Hidden Lake Park, 6355 Broadway, can be scheduled through Oct. 26 with Ross Township Trustee John Rooda's office. Hay rides are available from noon to 8 p.m. weekdays and weekends, and include a bonfire and the use of a shelter after the 30-minute ride. One ride accommodates up to 25 people. Cost is $40 on weekdays and $60 on weekends for Ross Township residents, and $60 on weekdays and $80 on weekends for nonresidents.

MOVIE MATINEE | DeMotte

"Elizabeth, The Golden Age" is the title of the free Senior Movie Matinee at 2 p.m. Oct. 9 at the DeMotte Library, 901 Birch St. SW.
