GARY | Eight Beachfront Dance School students were recently accepted into the Academy of Dance, the official school of the Joffrey Ballet.
The exclusive classes of Joffrey Ballet have five levels of instruction with level five being the highest. Only 25 students are accepted and participate in each level of instruction.
Maggie Lunghofer, 17, of Valparaiso, will be in the level five course of study. Destiny Cooper, 12, of Gary; Alexandria Walton, 14, of Gary; and Alison Reba, 15, of Munster; will be in the level three course of study. Dana Evans, 10, of Gary; Alaina Patterson, 10, of Gary; Vivian Reba, 10, of Munster; and Karion Houston, 11, of Gary; will be in the level two course of study.
The opportunity to dance at the Academy of Dance will enable the students to move into professional dance careers either at Joffrey or at other ballet or dance companies.
